Welcome to The Sussex Trauma Network website

The Sussex Trauma Network is part of the NHS nationwide trauma strategy, established to provide the highest possible care and services to people who experience a serious injury. A Trauma Network is the name given to the collaboration between healthcare providers to deliver trauma care services in a specific area. At it’s heart is the Major Trauma Centre (MTC) but members of the Network include organisations that provide pre –hospital services (such as the ground and air ambulance), Trauma Units (TU’s) who receive acute trauma admissions and rehabilitation services. The Network joins together to ensure that patients within the region receive the care they require in the appropriate hospital at the appropriate time. Not all patients need to be cared for in a regional major trauma service, but for others, rapid treatment and access to very specialised services are essential and often time critical. The Sussex Trauma Network is made up of representatives from the following organisations: • Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust (BSUH) • East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (ESHT) • Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (WSHFT) • South East Coast Ambulance Service Foundation Trust (SECAmb) • Kent Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance Trust • Sussex Community NHS Trust • Surrey & Sussex Commissioners Committed to the delivery of high quality trauma care, the Network unites teams to deliver a service with strong governance, high quality education and research and a focus that ensures patients receive the support and care that is needed as they recovering from serious injury.
